Book Description
John Dear is a prophet of peace in an often violent world. His friend Bill McNichols is a prophet of beauty in a world that often overlooks the beautiful and the good. Together they have created a stunning book that reveals the saints as living meditations on peace, beauty, and goodness.–James Martin, S.J., author of My Life with the Saints

The holy witnesses whose stories and images are presented here take a stand in the court of life to speak the truth of God. From famous and lesser-known saints to prophets and peacemakers from our own time, these images open a doorway to the sacred. Their stories call us to witness God's compassionate love.

Includes icons/reflections on Mary, John the Baptist, Mary Magdalene, Andrew, Francis of Assisi, Ignatius Loyola, Bernadette of Lourdes, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Dorothy Day, Jean Donovan, Mychal Judge and twenty others.

John Dear is a Jesuit priest, pastor, and peacemaker, who lives in northern New Mexico. He is the author/editor of more than twenty books, including Living Peace, Jesus the Rebel, and Disarming the Heart. His most recent Orbis Book is Daniel Berrigan: Spiritual Writings (Modern Spiritual Masters Series).
William Hart McNichols is a priest and iconographer who lives in Taos, New Mexico. His icons have been featured in three previous Orbis books: Mary, Mother of All Nations, Christ All Merciful, and The Bride. He has been described by Time magazine as "among the most famous creators of Christian iconic images in the world."
